Amateur Telescope Makers (ATMs) often find the need for specialized software tailored to their very technical hobby. In general, little commercial software exists for even the common tasks facing ATMs. While there is a considerable volume of ATM related software available, it is usually written by telescope makers for their use only and consequently usually lacks the features, ease of use, documentation, and robustness to be found in professional offerings.
The ATM's Workbench is a collection of software I have written for my own use and am extending for more general use by others. It embodies not only the features I use most often but also features more suited to the general ATM public. The published programs include complete help file documentation and have been thoroughly tested by many other ATMs before being publicly released. Extensive internal error checking and recovery code is incorporated to help prevent incorrect results in operation.
At this time, only Ronchi for Windows is available for unrestricted download. The other two programs are at the alpha test stage -- the code is substantially complete and working but they lack full documentation, "error hardening", and final debugging. When they reach the beta test stage, they will be selectively made available for downloading by ATM's who agree to act as testers.
